This election will determine the composition of the municipal council for the next four years. Municipal councils are elected using party-list proportional representation and their main role is laying down the guidelines for the policy of the municipal executive and exercising control over its execution by the mayor and aldermen. Waalre’s municipal council has a total of 17 seats.

Am I eligible to vote?

Everyone who has an EU passport, or has been living in The Netherlands legally for over five consecutive years, and is above 18 years has the right to vote for the municipal elections. To vote, you only have to be registered as a resident in Waalre on January 31st. If you meet these requirements  a stempas (polling card) in Dutch will be sent to you at your home address at least 14 days before the elections. You will also receive the list of candidates, including the addresses of the polling stations at least 4 days before the elections.
